Hobbies

I think hobbies we have are somehow linked to some prehistoric family in our past and the DNA we share.  My own family tree has countless  records (and my own memories) of musicians, writers, painters and fabricators through the centuries, so I know I come by my creativity honestly.  Having been blessed with all of these aptitudes has also been my curse in that I have problems focusing on just one thing I want to do at a time.

In high school, my interests blossomed into the arts and crafts side. As I learned about various ways to make things like sculptures and paintings, my guts just yearned for more knowledge. Now that I am retired, I invest in online courses teaching me various techniques to use in my art.

Writing poetry and songs began when I was around 9 and has continued throughout my life.  My musicality with the cadence necessary has just come naturally to me. When I was in cosmetology school back in 1970, I performed a song I had written before a crowd of about 2000 people. That was all it took for me to learn that becoming an actress or any type of performer would not be in the cards for me. I am too introverted for that type of life.

It is my belief that I shall write a novel. Whether it is worth reading to others is unknown, but I think someone will find it of interest. Keeping a blog is what will hone my writing instrument. A few times published - once with an article I wrote for a local newspaper and once with a poem I wrote for a book, makes me feel as though maybe I DO have something to write worthy of print.
